AEP tips: Business done better


In preparation for the upcoming Annual Enrollment Period, here are six tips to help you ensure business runs smoothly.

  1. When you're submitting guaranteed issue or special enrollment period business, please send the documentation and the case number to healthsupport@wellabe.com.
  2. If you're writing an application to include a household discount, you must provide the full name of the other person in the household who is not the insured. That means no initials and no pets — a full first and last name are needed.
  3. While Wellabe doesn't require you to list medications, if you do add them while writing the application, that might eliminate the need for a phone interview. It’s best to include medications if you can or have the time.
  4. Unless your client gets their approval through the accelerated underwriting process, please remind them they may receive a phone call for an interview.
  5. For open enrollees, sometimes proof of Part B is needed. If your customer is outside their traditional open enrollment period or beyond age 65, get ahead of the game and obtain a copy of their Medicare card or Social Security letter for proof of Medicare Part B. You can email the documentation to newbusiness@wellabe.com.
  6. If Wellabe receives an application for a current customer, we will automatically coincide the termination date of the existing policy with the effective date of the new policy.
