UPMC for Life Earns 5-Star Rating

UPMC for Life offers the best quality Medicare plan in PA.
UPMC for Life earned an excellent 5 out of a possible 5 overall star rating for its HMO and PPO plans for 2022 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). UPMC for Life is the largest HMO plan in PA with a 5-star rating. This ranking also places UPMC for Life among the highest-rated Medicare plans in the nation!

Additionally, UPMC for Life received National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Accreditation. This makes UPMC for Life the ONLY plan in PA to have achieved NCQA Accreditation and a 5-star rating from CMS for both its HMO and PPO products.

These excellent ratings help UPMC for Life maintain the strong benefits and programs they offer to members and reflect the strength and stability consumers have long admired and expected from UPMC Health Plan. • Well…it means a lot!―NCQA Accreditation and a 5 star rating from CMS are revered accomplishments among Medicare Advantage plans, and something you should boast about! Make sure to discuss these important achievements when speaking with your clients and take the time to educate them on how a Medicare Advantage plan earns these awards.
• 5-star Special Election Period (SEP)―Now that UPMC for Life is a 5-star plan, Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in the plan even after AEP is over by using the 5-star SEP. Eligible Medicare beneficiaries can disenroll from their current plan and enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan offered by a Medicare Advantage organization that currently has a 5-star overall rating. The eligible individual can only use the SEP one time from Dec. 8, 2021, through Nov. 30, 2022.

Your clients can take advantage of important extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, an allowance to buy health care products, and much, much more. This plan is available in the South Central PA region only.

PPO Flex Rx―This plan is available in the North Central and South Central PA regions with slight variations of the benefits between the two. Members get flexible, low cost, out-of-network coverage with a $0 monthly premium and prescription drug coverage. Plus, clients get important extra benefits, including dental, vision, hearing, an allowance to buy health care products, and a FREE Fitbit.
