Personalized Billing, featuring clear, simple billing information specific to each member for AARP® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans from UnitedHealthcare®, started in mid-May for June premium payments.*
When an enrollment application is accepted on the last day of the month and the requested plan effective date is the first day of the next month, the member will receive their first account statement during their first month of coverage. Their first account statement will provide information on how to pay their first- and second-month’s premiums.
If these members chose to pay their premiums by monthly recurring Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), the first automated withdrawal will not occur until on or about the 5th of the second month of coverage.
How can these members pay their first month’s premium once their coverage is effective?
Members who chose to pay their premiums by EFT or coupon can pay their first month’s premium in one of following ways:
Members who chose to pay their premiums by EFT may also use the coupon included with their first account statement.
Members who chose to pay by coupon may also pay their first-and second-month’s premiums using the coupon included with their first account statement.
Members who wish to pay their premium before their first month’s coverage has begun (ex. Member wants to pay on 5/31 for a 6/1 coverage), can call customer service.
Please note that any claims received during the first month’s coverage will be considered when premiums are paid.
How can you help?
When enrolling your clients in an AARP Medicare Supplement Plan near the end of the month, please help them understand when they will receive their first account statement and how to pay their first- and second-month’s premiums if their application is accepted the last day of the month.
*Personalized Billing will go into effect for all states in 2024 beginning with the June 2024 coverage period. Personalized Billing does not affect other insurance plan coverage individuals may have through UnitedHealthcare including their Prescription Drug Plan.
