Sometimes, being an independent agent can feel like you’re on an island with no point of comparison for how you’re feeling or performing compared to others. Not too long ago, we sent a survey to our agents asking about their experience with this AEP, and we’re pleased to announce that the results are in!
COVID-19 is still a concern for many and is still influencing how many agents do business. We have seen that many more agents have adapted to working remotely with their clients and are utilizing tools like MedicareValue to make this process as painless as possible. Being comfortable with these newer ways of doing business will help going forward, as you become more versatile and can offer your clients more options.
The biggest piece of feedback that we received was no surprise --- many agents (and their clients!) are frustrated by TV commercials touting unrealistic plan information and information that may not be 100% truthful or clear to their audience. This added to members being overwhelmed by the amount of information being thrown at them and made it harder for well-meaning agents to make contact with members who needed help.
Many agents are also seeing the benefit of expanding their book of business by utilizing referrals. If you have a great appointment, leave a handful of business cards with your client and remind them how grateful you are for referrals. If you think about how many people the average person knows, and how most people trust recommendations from their friends and family, the growth potential is enormous!
