Exciting changes are coming for AEP 2023! Your clients will be able to select their Essential Extras (EE) benefit choice at the point of sale.
Revised AEP 2023 Enrollment Application Allows for Self-Attestation
The enrollment application is being revised to include a statement allowing the member to self-attest they have one or more of the chronic conditions that make them eligible for Flex Utilities and/or Healthy Groceries benefits under the SSBCI benefits (part of Essential Extras (EE)). (Starting with 1/1/2023 effective dates).
Improved Member Experience
Clients who "self-attest" on their enrollment application at the point of sale will flow through the enrollment process faster with no need to contact the provider to validate the chronic condition. If the application is complete, the new member will receive their Benefits Prepaid Card faster than if they make their selection post-sale.
Clients will still have the option to make their Essential Extras plan selection after the sale by calling Member Services to make their selection and self-attest to their chronic condition(s). However, if they choose this option, their physician may be contacted and will have to agree the member's selection is appropriate for their medical condition. That's why self-attestation at the point of sale is strongly encouraged.
