Multiple Special Election Periods (SEP) in effect for Florida

Multiple SEPs Are Available to Florida Customers Still Needing Medicare Coverage

Now is the time to enroll those customers who qualify for an SEP, before the CMS Rule for Government Disaster Enrollment SEP Process Change

Please be aware, beginning April 1, 2025, those customers wishing to enroll in a Medicare plan based on a Government Entity-Declared Disaster or Other Emergency SEP, must call 1-800-MEDICARE in order to make an election. Florida Blue will no longer be able to accept elections directly from customers for Disaster/Emergency SEP after March 31st.

Take time to review the available SEPs listed below which outlines the upcoming changes starting April 1, 2025.

Disaster: Emergency Management – Tropical Storm Milton (Hurricane Milton)

Affected Counties: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus,  Clay, Collier, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Glades,  Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River,  Lafayette, Lake, Lee, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade,  Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas,  Polk, Putnam, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter, Suwanee,  Taylor, Union, and Volusia counties.

SEP End Date: 04/30/2025

Disaster: Emergency Management – Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine (Hurricane Helene)

SEP End Date: 09/30/2024

Disaster: Emergency Management – May North FL Tornadoes

Affected Counties: Baker, Columbia, Escambia, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jefferson,  Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor,  and Wakulla counties

Disaster: Emergency Management – Hurricane “Ian”

Affected Counties: Florida Statewide – EXCLUDING Bay County
