Important Update Regarding Sharon Regional Health System

Highmark is aware that Steward Health Care has announced they will be closing some or all the facilities at Sharon Regional Health System in northwest Pennsylvania. According to the closure notice filed, the effective date will be January 6, 2025.

Highmark has been closely following discussions and developments related to this matter, anticipating the impact a closure outcome might have on members and the community. They will continue to do everything they can to help members with their health care coverage needs.

Approximately 5,000 Highmark members have used services at Sharon Regional Health System in the last year. Highmark plans to notify members who have accessed services through the health system during this time and will assist in coordinating care with other local providers.
