IMPORTANT NOTICE: Highmark Diabetic Supply Co-Pay Issue

Highmark was recently made aware of a diabetic supply co-pay issue that has impacted some of our Western New York and  Northeastern New York members. Although diabetic supplies should have a  $0 copay, a coding glitch is causing a 20% coinsurance to be charged for these  items. We are working diligently to implement a solution as quickly as  possible and sincerely apologize for any negative impact your clients may  have experienced.
 
If your clients have been impacted, please advise them of the following:  

• If a member was incorrectly charged 20% coinsurance for diabetic supplies, they will be reimbursed.
• If a member has chosen not to get testing supplies because of the cost, please let them know this will be resolved in the next few days.

 Highmark will provide an update once the issue has been resolved and offer their assurance that they are working to prevent this  from happening in the future.
