Highmark: Heritage Valley Kennedy Hospital Closing: Impact on Your Clients

Network Update: Heritage Valley Kennedy Hospital Closure on June 30, 2025 (WPA)

Highmark is aware that Heritage Valley Health System has announced they will be closing Heritage Valley Kennedy Hospital in Kennedy Township, PA on June 30, 2025, due to declining patient volumes and financial challenges. They will be consolidating most services at other Heritage Valley locations of services.

Which lines of business are impacted?

• This closure will impact all lines of business.
• Approximately 4,600 Highmark members have used services at Heritage Valley Kennedy Hospital in the last year.  

Will members lose access to services in that area?

• According to the closure report, emergency care, outpatient surgery, and diagnostic services will shift to Heritage Valley’s Sewickley and Beaver locations.
• Members can find an in-network doctor or hospital by visiting highmarkbcbs.com and clicking Find a Doctor.
• Members may also call Member Services at the number on the back of their ID card with questions or for assistance in finding care.
