Updated preventive services flyer now available

Geisinger is committed to providing the highest standard of preventive care services recommended by state and federal agencies like the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices for immunizations, the American Academy of Pediatrics and others. Visit the immunization schedule section at cdc.gov for more information. Many of the preventive services listed are covered with no member cost-sharing at a participating or preferred doctor. (There may be cost-sharing if a doctor provides additional services that aren’t part of the preventive care list.)

Geisinger Health Plan Medicaid adds over 95,000 new members statewide

As part of the Medicaid expansion announced earlier this year, Geisinger Health Plan enrolled over 95,000 new Medicaid members statewide, effective Sept. 1. With these new members, Geisinger Health Plan Medicaid now serves more than 325,000 Pennsylvanians across all 67 counties. Geisinger Health Plan is one of five health plans managing care in Pennsylvania for an estimated 2.8 million recipients eligible for Medical Assistance. 4 ways Geisinger is making diabetes management easier

Managing diabetes doesn’t have to be complicated. Did you know Geisinger Pharmacy works with patients and members to stay on top of their health? That helps them avoid complications so they can live a long, full life.

1. Mail-order or free home delivery: Patients can get insulin and other supplies from Geisinger Pharmacy. Taking insulin and other diabetes medications is the most important part of diabetes management. With free home delivery and generous Rx copay discounts, Geisinger’s mail-order pharmacy can help our health plan members stay on top of their insulin and other prescription drugs.

2. Managing medication interactions with blood sugar. You know that diabetes management is about managing blood sugar. But other medications can raise or lower blood sugar, requiring an insulin dose adjustment. The clinical pharmacists at Geisinger’s retail pharmacies help make sure new medications don’t interfere with blood sugar, and work with doctors to come up with the best medication treatment program.

3. Coordinated care: Working together to manage our patients’ health. Even a minor illness can be especially hard for people living with diabetes, because when your diet and sleep schedule change, so does your blood sugar. Patients who need a coordinated insulin and medication plan can ask their Geisinger pharmacist for advice.

4. Geisinger Gold offers even bigger insulin savings. Members of Geisinger Gold Medicare Advantage can take advantage of the Insulin Saver Program and get a 90-day supply of covered insulin for only $17.50 a month.
