Formulary enhancements for 2023

Starting in 2023, many of the top medications taken by Aetna Medicare members will be on a lower drug tier, Tiers 1 and 2. In fact, nearly 300 drugs are moving to a lower drug tier. Checkout the details on the formulary enhancements for 2023.

Clarification on outbound telephonic enrollment

Based on CMS communications this year and guidance, telephonic enrollments may be conducted via outbound call with prospects in cases where the beneficiary or his or her authorized representative initiated contact. Unsolicited contact, i.e. cold calling without the beneficiary initiating contact, is still prohibited. See examples and learn more about outbound telephonic enrollment.

Action required: Update Star Ratings by October 27

CMS requires you to replace the 2022 Star Ratings document (currently on yellow paper inside your MA/MAPD kits) with the new 2023 Star Ratings page in any enrollment kits in your possession by October 27. You’re also required to review the 2023 Star Ratings document with beneficiaries when presenting Aetna MA/MAPD and SilverScript PDP plans.

Where and when to access 2023 Star Ratings

  • The new printed versions of the 2023 Star Ratings are now available to download from AetnaMedicare.com.
  • The 2023 Star Ratings page will be included in any new enrollment kits you order.
  • Electronic versions of the enrollment kits will be unavailable to download, while we update them with 2023 Star Ratings. They will be available to download again starting in mid-November. Please rely on printed versions of the enrollment kits or our electronic enrollment tools until then.

NEW: Get a personalized URL to market yourself, through Think Agent

Through Think Agent, Aetna's electronic enrollment tool, you can now create a shareable URL. Clients can use your personal URL to shop for Aetna Medicare plans, and enroll online –and you'll receive credit for the sale. Watch a 5-minute video and get details on how to get started.

Helping you retain your Agent of Record (AOR) status

Our AOR retention policy helps ensure you keep your renewal commission for your clients. Whether you re-enroll members in a new plan, or enroll new members by phone, online, by paper or directly by you, we'll support your AOR status. The only exception is if the member enrolls through a different agent or through a national non-Aetna call center. Visit Producer World for details.

New CMS FAQs available for review

Looking for answers to questions regarding the new CMS requirements? CMS created an FAQ page covering answers to questions about recording calls between beneficiaries and Third-Party Marketing Organizations (TPMOs) as well as the requirements related to the TPMO disclaimer. Learn more.

Industry-first: Member ID cards with QR codes, plan-specific webpages for 1.9M members
