Final Reminders for AEP

We’re in the last few weeks of the Annual Election Period. As you continue to enroll new clients and have conversations with current members, please keep the following tips in mind:

  • One of the common application issues is related to the Primary Care Physician (PCP) details. When adding the PCP to the application, please use the first and last name only with no prefix, title, or suffix. This is required for enrollment in any of our HMO plans.
  • When enrolling new members in our PPO plans, please ensure the member confirms that any out-of-area providers they see accept their local BlueCross BlueShield Medicare plan. This will ensure there are no interruptions to their care. For example, if a member travels to Florida for the winter, they will want to confirm that their doctor in Florida accepts Florida Blue.
  • OTC catalogs will be distributed in December. These will be sent directly to members, based on the plan they selected.
  • All members will receive a new member ID card in December. ER co-pays have been updated.

2023 Silver&Fit® Membership Information

  • No enrollment fee
  • New participating facilities include several Planet Fitness locations
  • Member Registration: Starting 1/1/2023, members can go directly to the gym to start using their Silver&Fit benefit. Members will provide name and date of birth to verify eligibility (member eligibility file is updated 3x/ week).
  • To Change Facilities: New facility access starts on the 1st of themonth. Contact ASH directly to change selected facility.

Medicare Supplement Update

Excellus has not received NYS approval on the 2023 rates for their Medicare Supplement plans. Annual Rate Notices are required to be sent 60 days in advance of rate changes. As a result, members will pay the current 2022 rate through at least the month of January. Excellus will send Med Supp members a letter informing them about the delay and will keep you updated once they receive approval.
