Excela Health Network Access

December 6, 2021

If your sales region includes Westmoreland County, you may have already heard about UnitedHealthcare terminating their access to Excela Health for 2022. This change means that all Medicare beneficiaries on a UnitedHealthcare plan that would like access to the doctors and hospitals of Excela Health must look for another insurance carrier. This change is effective January 1, 2022.
This can be a great opportunity to discuss the UPMC for Life plan options for Westmoreland County. UPMC plans can give beneficiaries comparable benefits (if not better) with a broader network of providers, including Excela Health. If you are speaking with a UnitedHealthcare member that’s looking to switch, you can reference the Excela Health talking points flyer. This reference guide easily compares UnitedHealthcare plans with our current plans available in Westmoreland County.
UPMC is also reaching out to all affected UPMC for Life leads in Westmoreland County by mail. To see what they’re sending these Medicare beneficiaries, click here.
If you have any questions about the 2022 UPMC for Life plans or our network access, please contact your broker manager.
Thank you for your continued support of UPMC for Life!
