Internet service discounts available for low-income customers

There is a new federal program available that helps low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet. The  Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal government program that  helps connect families and households struggling to afford internet service. This  program could help many of your Medicare customers, especially those on a  fixed budget and those enrolled in a dual eligible special needs plan  (D-SNP).

The benefit provides:

• Up to  $30/month discount for internet service
• Up to  $75/month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands
• A  one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet  purchased through a participating provider if the household contributes more  than $10 but less than $50 toward the purchase price. 

Note: The ACP is limited to one monthly service discount and one  device discount per household.

About the ACP      

Eligibility:* A household is eligible for the ACP if the household meets at least one of these four conditions: 

• Household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines 
• Household already receives a Lifeline benefit. 
• A member of the household receives a governmental benefit like SNAP, Medicare, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant, or Free or Reduced-Price Lunch.
• Customer may also qualify through a participating internet provider's existing low-income program.

‍Two steps to enroll:**      

1.  Go to AffordableConnectivity.gov to submit an electronic application or print a mail-in application.

2.  Contact a participating broadband provider to select a plan and have the discount applied to your bill.
