As you may be aware, the state of California has a new law going into effect on January 1, 2023. The new law requires most insurance producers (including Accident and Health, or Sickness Agents) to include their license number on all emails.
The law applies to all agents and organizations licensed in California and selling Wellcare Medicare and Ambetter Health Insurance Marketplace. This is according to California Insurance Code section 1725.5, as amended by Senate Bill 1242 [Committee on Insurance, Chapter 424, Statutes of 2022].
The state has provided responses to some of the most common questions about the new requirement. Please review the included notice to obtain answers to the following questions:
Work is currently underway to make any needed updates within Ascend for the Send for Signature and Quick Quote email options used to communicate with prospects.
Please direct any questions you may have regarding the new requirement to the Producer Licensing Bureau by Live Chat at Agents & Brokers Overview, email at cdilicensing@insurance.ca.gov, or telephone at (800)967-9331.
