BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina

Tips for a Successful Open Enrollment

Individual open enrollment runs through Sunday, January 15, 2023. Your clients continue to get the benefits they deserve in 2023 with Blue OptionSM, including:

  • NEW! Nationwide BlueCard® Coverage — When members are living or traveling outside of South Carolina, they will be able to locate participating doctors and hospitals nationwide. When they use a doctor or hospital through BlueCard, they receive the highest level of benefits.
  • All-Inclusive, Comprehensive Office Visit Copayment — One low copayment per in-network office visit covers ALL related diagnostic and treatment services, including labs and X-rays.
  • Dental, Vision and Prescription Coverage — Members get a dental allowance for exams and cleanings every six months, adult and pediatric vision coverage, and a $0 pharmacy tier on all plans.
  • FOCUSfwd® Wellness Incentive Program — Designed to help members lead healthier lifestyles. The amount members can earn by completing health-related activities and challenges is increasing to $110 in 2023. They     can also win one of the $1,000 quarterly and $5,000 annual cash rewards in our Sweepstakes!

Quoting and Enrollment System

The Blue Option online quoting and enrollment system handles both open and special enrollments and makes getting a quote easy. Be sure to enter your agent code when completing an application to become the agent of record. Please make sure your clients print their confirmation pages for their records once they have submitted their applications.

BlueChoice® will send the CMS required mailings to all off-exchange members this month. Here is a sample of the cover letter and the required letter for those members keeping their same plans next year. Also, here is a sample of the
