News from BCBSWNY: Update on Buffalo Medical Group & BCBSWNY Network
Dear Agents & Brokers,
Recently, BCBSWNY Medicare Advantage members with a Buffalo Medical Group (BMG) primary care provider received a communication from BMG stating that their primary care providers may no longer be in-network as of July 2021. This information was not accurate.
BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Buffalo Medical Group reached a multi-year in-network agreement across all lines of business, including Medicare Advantage, that ensures BlueCross BlueShield’s members will continue to have access to Buffalo Medical Group’s primary care providers and services.
The new agreement will become effective January 1, 2021 and ensures there is no interruption to in-network status, access to care or reimbursement for BlueCross BlueShield members through Buffalo Medical Group.
Accordingly, Buffalo Medical Group sent an updated email message to 4,500 BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York Medicare Advantage members that received the original communication to inform them that BMG primary care providers will remain in BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York’s Medicare Advantage network. There will also be several communications deployed to reinforce that Medicare Advantage members will continue to have access to Buffalo Medical Group primary care providers.
BCBSWNY’s priority is making sure that members continue to receive quality, affordable, uninterrupted health care. The agreement with Buffalo Medical Group further supports this position. If you have any additional questions, please contact your Account Executive.
